St Andrews wins Training and Development Award
The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews has, once again, been awarded an Investors in People accreditation, which formally recognises the commitment to the training and development of all employees at the luxury hotel.
Since arriving at the resort last September, renowned hotelier Debbie Taylor has spearheaded a cutting-edge training and development strategy which puts people at the heart of the business. This includes progressive management and supervisory programmes which are designed to actively groom the future generation of managers to move the business forward, as well as a programme of daily training sessions for all staff.Employees are actively encouraged to enter awards and competitions to learn new skills and enhance their experience within the hospitality industry. Earlier this year, eight talented employees won a prestigious scholarship through the Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland, and have already attended courses in world-renowned hotel schools such as the École Hotelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.
In addition, Taylor has introduced a recognition scheme that awards members of staff who go above and beyond the call of duty, as well as staff social events, regular communication forums for all employees and a staff welfare programme including special rates at leading hotels in the UK and USA.
Taylor commented: “We are fully committed to developing our staff to achieve outstanding business results in a rewarding and dynamic environment. The Investors in People planning process ensures that we offer a focused training and development programme, which is a major factor in driving continued success for both the Old Course Hotel and Scotland’s wider hospitality industry.”
